INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Hello parent! If you've landed here it's probably because your childs school have arranged for us to spend a day at their school and they have been asked to take part in our workshop. We thought we would put down some information so that you can understand what your child will be doing, how to prepare them in advance of the event, and some after event activities so that they make the most out of the day.

What should my child wear?

All of our workshops begin with a safety demonstration and full expectations of the students. All students taking part must comply with our infection control policies which are explained on the day. To help with this please ensure that your child comes to school on the day of the event able to: remove anything attached to them on their wrists as they must be bare form the elbow down. If there is something attached for medical, religious or sentimental reasons they need to bring in a roll of cling film so they can cover their arm completely. All jewellery and watches will need to removed and so will any expensive items of clothing. Hair below the shoulder will need securing so they will need to bring a bobble.

What activities will my child be doing?

This is the exciting part! Students will undertake a complete dissection of most of the major organs they will be learning about in science as part of their GCSE or A Level course. Our sessions are delivered by our presenter who is the UK's only award winning human anatomist who is also an experienced, qualified teacher courtesy of the University of Manchester). All of our organ specimens unless requested by the school are porcine in origin (pork) and no animals have been raised or harmed for our workshops, if they were not used by us for widespread training, they would be fed to household pets.

"Impactful with excellent tips"

What an incredible experience for our students at Saint George's School! The sessions were very impactful and full of real life stories and excellent tips to embed key terms into memory. We will absolutely be booking this again in the next academic year. Thank you Pre-Med Anatomy!

After the event...

After the event we encourage your child to take part in our online exam. This is a free to access multiple choice exam that covers what we learned on the day. It's a great way for students to test their learning and keep pn top of it in preparation for national exams. It is accessed from the footer of the website and they will have been given the password at the event.

Don't forget their certificate. If they are serious about a career in medicine then keep this for when it comes to year 13 and completing their UCAS personal statement and application. The activities they have taken part in will set them apart and give them an advantage when discussing their experiences and why they have chosen medicine as a course. Trust us, our team have been doing this for over 15 years and we know our hands on programmes are loved by universities, they even book us to train their students!
